Cannabis is legalized in Utah for religious use

In a recent ruling for a Utah based Native American Church, earth based plants including cannabis is legal for religious usage.

After a 11 year case, and after getting their peyote chief back that the police took hostage in 2000 it is now understood that the courts have ruled that this church via the First Amendment and the Religious Freedom Restoration Act can legally used earth based substances without legal penalty.

After years upof debating this point with NORML and other activists, it appears that there is more precedent than before.  Although the cases and the rulings have kept building up over the years, this particular case is monumental.  First because it is coming from Utah, and second this Native American Church originally got in trouble for giving peyote to non-Native Americans.

I would love to hear more about your story. We could do an interview some time?

ONAC of Orderville represents the wholeness of earth based healing. Healing the human condition of its’ “insanity” can start from many directions. Fundamentally, the world doesn’t have a clue as to what they are as a astrological/biological creation of the Universe and that is where fundamentals come in.

Peyote is beyond the words…powerful medicine. In its’ wholeness, taken in conjunction with many other purifying practices that make up our daily lives…its has the ability to not only mend the emotional layers it has the potential (for those that have prepared properly) to activate human DNA that has sat dormant until that moment. It is because of James and Linda Mooney that any of this could now go forward with a wholeness never before experienced by mankind (in any previous age).

It is truly a truth whose time has come. Peyote, cannabis, comfrey, castor oil, hydrangia root, gravel root, uva usrsi, cleavers, horsetail, nettle, psyllium husk and seed…the list of plants available to mankind to do its’ purifying works is formidable. There is no human disease or sickness that cannot be healed, cannot be avoided…given the complete Sacred Science of what earth based healing is in its’ wholeness.

We need to start planning some direct actions to educate judges. They find it all too easy to rule out of ignorance.

Much easier background to read. Blue links on green-checkered background made for tough reading. Good work.

Sounds like an excuse to me, from a president who is and always has been far too much of a coward to take a stand on anything. You can’t tell me, no matter how brainwashed in support of Obama you are, that there’s not more he could be doing, more he could be directing the executive branch to do, in support of ending the drug war and protecting medical marijuana.

It’s very suspicious that Holder’s Justice Department is going after medical marijuana dispensaries while also arming the mexican drug cartels. Judging by deeds instead of empty words, it looks like the government is trying to keep the drug war going, as it’s incredibly profitable for a lot of people within the government and their contractors.

The prison industry is one of the major industries in America today, and convict labor is being used on an ever-increasing level. America has the highest per capita number of incarcerated citizens in the world.

For a real change in drug policy, and an end of the drug war, vote for Rocky Anderson for president.

Here is proof that real conversations do not happen at Huffpost. I went to reply to this thoughtful comment only to be informed that it had been deleted. This is proof that Huffpost is violating our freedom of speech. What? Does she think we are her sheep?

I’m calling it a conspiracy to commit torture, another thing she won’t allow us to talk about.

Well, if he wants to enforce the laws on the books when it comes to medical cannibus, then why not enforce the immigration laws that are currently on the books? You can’t have it both ways Mr. President.

You mean the immigration laws they rushed on the book in an anti-native political move dreamed up by ALEC after I said I wanted to take back my country?

I thought it was racist. If you really want to get rid of illegal immigrants, then go after the Catholics, as in 500 years ago when the pope declared that my people were legally animals, or only had the rights of animals. It is called the Doctrine of Discovery, you should look it up.

In the Doctrine of Discovery, the pope decided that only white Christians have rights. American law has been decided by the supreme court using the Doctrine of Discovery to systematically strip my people of their rights to own land, their children, etc.

I discovered it looking into what should be a fairly simple question, why is pot illegal. It turns out pot is illegal because it is against the christian religion to give other people any civil rights, especially if they want anything from them or their land.

~ I posted that here because I don’t expect it to make it through the Huffpost filter. Who do you think is deciding over there, the CIA or the state department?

Don’t be so silly as to think Arianna makes that decision.

God forbid that you, a hardworking, responsible citizen, an adult, smoke a little doobie on your own free time. The government will treat you like an infant and law enforcement will put you in a headlock that you and your family won’t soon forget, if they get the chance. Why? Because it’s not liquor or cigarettes. And because, well, because politicians are notorious cowards.
