Respect and love for the late Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.

It is sad that some must give all for their cause, but I thank God for those who do.

For the civil rights and racial equality that Rev. King fought for and made so much progress, and for all of his community service. My fullest respect goes to this man!

Another man that fought hard for civil rights, long before Rev. King, was Marcus Garvey in the 20's.

I made a video about Marcus Garvey a few weeks back. With some Bob Marley (lyrics that quote Marcus Garvey).

I like what Mr. Garvey says at the end of the video "Liberate the minds of man, and ultimately you will free the bodies of men".

There is a lot going on in the news of marijuana law reform. I recommend staying tuned to the NORML SHOW LIVE http://stash.norml.org

Reverend Ryan on Recovering from a snoball fight

Yesterday, I posted an article about getting snoballed. Today I am recovering from this snoball fight and Im moving on.

But I wanted to tell you a little bit about my experience in providing excellent service to marijuana dispensaries, and just the way that I like to do business in general.

So this client wrote us in November and wanted to test our software. We directed them to the full-featured free demo at:

http://emeraldpos.com/pos-software-demo/

They tried it and liked it. We also told them about OpenBravo.com, which is a very good software as well (but doesn't have off-site data). They wanted the software at the link that I provided.

After a week, they were ready to sign up. So they signed the paper work and our contract. On December 7th, they asked if we would include a way for the software to inlcude documents and photos to be uploaded to a patient's profile for medical records etc.
I told them that I would get right on it, and I paid my developer Joel more money to alter the software. Within 2 days, Joel had the modification made, and the client liked what they saw.

Finally on December 14th 2009 they sent their payment to secure their order for the custom Point of Sales unit that they bought from us. Mind you, this is 9 days after they signed the contract with us. So a week before Christmas we get their order in, all except for the scanner which was lost in the mail (serves to reason, since it is Christmas holiday and all). But we proceed to configure their hardware and software for the new point of sales system. On December 22nd I bought a plane ticket for January 11th to install their hardware, and help them with other technical issues that they were having with their surveillance system (on the house).

They agree to the date of January 11th for delivery, and even though they wanted the items sooner, they understood that not all of the items had came in and it wasn't our fault. Had they made their payment on December 5th when they signed the contracts, this shipping delay wouldn't have been an issue.

So I thought everything was going to proceed as planned, and they asked me when I was going to set up their server. I did that on December 23rd 2009, and I installed their software and bought a Security Certificate for 128 bit SSL encryption which they verified with the SSL company finally on January fourth. The server and the SSL certificate are non-refundable items. Once I bought them, I was stuck with them, just like the traveling reservations that I had made for this install.

On January 3rd, the customer complained about not liking the software any more, and wanted a refund. He said he found other software to go with. I told him, that I would refund him whatever he was entitled to, as per our signed contract.
He told me he wanted all of his money back, or he was going to sue me.
I explained that the hardware that he ordered will work with any software, and that if he wanted to return it, it would be a charged of a 10% restocking fee. And that the server contract was a 12 month, non-negotiable commitment. He said he refused to pay it, and he refused the 10% restocking fee.

So now to give him his money back. I am stuck with non-refundable travel reservations to Colorado, a server that was leased for him, and he has an SSL certificate which was sent to him, and can only be used for his domain. Over $1000 worth of expense. Plus I am left holding his hardware that I custom order and custom configured for him. This loss now is worth over $2500 to me and my family, right after Christmas, and with our new business which is only a month old, and has not seen anything but expense, no profit yet.

Despite that he only paid us $1700, and his contracts are legal and non-negotiable 12 month contracts worth $1400. I instantly give him $660 in refunds. When he was only due $319 in refunds minus the service contracts.

But then, as a last insult. He attempts to do a charge back on me, to get money that he is not legally entitled to.

So now, if he gets his money back I am left with this $2500 loss.

But, despite not being legally obligated to pay the full refund. I made an arrangement to get this guy 100% of his money back.

Meanwhile I am left holding travel arrangements to Colorado, plus his server and the expense on his SSL certificate.

All because he didn't like our free software?

Sometimes, no matter how kind and generous you are, people still seek to take advantage of you to the fullest extent.

This guy will get all of his money back. And I will walk away knowing that I did everything in my power to make this right.

Will this guy be sorry that my kids will go without this year for many things because he did not fully test the software before signing up with us? Probably not.

And how much do you think he will be charging people for their medicine that grows naturally from the ground? $10 per gram, $15 per gram, $20 per gram? What if someone buys an ounce from him, takes it home, smokes half of it and returns it to him? Will he refund them 100% of what they paid, or will he only give them half?

I hope that this guy treats his patients the same way that I treated him. I hope that if his patience aren't satisfied with their medicine that he will give them back 100% of their money, even if they smoked half of it before returning it. Because that will be the same way he expected me to treat him. He burned up thousands of my dollars, and then wanted a full refund, despite that I went above and beyond to help him out. Since I am giving him his refund, he better damn well follow the golden rule and do the same thing for his patients!

I feel like moving to Colorado, and becoming his patient, so that I can hold him to the same expectations that he held me to in this transaction!

Ever felt like you've been snoballed?

I really truly dislike the kind of people who will step on anyone to get the best deal.

This is probably why I don't like xmas much, or black friday, or all of the other BS that goes along with the vanity and commercialism of secular holidays.

Well, to make a long story short, I lost $2000 today directly because of someone being selfish, irresponsible and indecisive.

Now I feel like I've gotten snoballed.

I should introduce this guy to Gary Snoman, they'd get a long great!

It's too bad sometimes medical marijuana is ALL about the $$.

I am currently enjoying a very hempy and merry Christmas. I wish the same to you and yours.

The holiday part of Christmas is enjoyable, even though it's stressful. Having kids makes this holiday so much fun!

I enjoy the message of Christmas. The message is fairly trans-denominational, solitice and other pagan holidays, to Hanukkah and of course Christmas. This time of year is often very special for people.

For us we thank the Lord, and I celebrate Him with His sacred herb. Cannabis.

I made this video to demonstrate what legalizing cannabis means to me.
I've lost so many due to the ineffectiveness or harm of synthetic drugs.
There is a natural remedy for many ailments called "cannabis". It is an ancient herb that has been used by mankind for thousands of years, and there is no record of an overdose yet.
Cannabis is safe and effective medicine.
My video is dedicated to the loved ones that I've lost, who could have benefited from cannabis research and treatment if only it were legalized and properly researched.

I wanted to bring awareness to the usefulness of cannabis for cancer, and also showcase the research that has been done with cannabis compounds to kill cancer. December 27th to January 3rd we will be celebrating this cause Cannabis for Cancer.

After losing my father, I became more dedicated to the cause of legalizing cannabis. Not just to restore freedom and liberty, although that is certain the main part of my pleas. But also so that we can much needed research done in this country on the effects of cannabis and cannabinoid compounds on cancer cells.

Without this much needed research, the secrets of cannabis will be tucked away. Meanwhile our government is patenting cannabis compounds, because they already know the benefits of cannabis.

Just check out US Patent 6630507 titled "Cannabinoids as antioxidants and neuroprotectants" which is assigned to The United States of America, as represented by the Department of Health and Human Services.

It's certainly time to take this matter seriously. cannabis holds so many undiscovered, wonderful medicine, it is difficult to even count it's many beneficial uses!

Had marijuana been rescheduled, and research my dad may have found the benefits that so many others are finding from cannabis, including many professors who can prove that marijuana effectively fights cancer.

I wish so much that the government would stay our of medicine and leave it up to the doctors!

The meeting would start in approximately 30 minutes from leaving the dispensary, so I redirected the GPS to city hall, which is a huge blessing because I don't know directions in this city all that well, and the GPS usually gives me the best route (or, the opposite direction all together, it varies).
My wife and daughters went to the mall, and I went to the city hall.

I immediately approached the young lady that I presumed to have some influence, and she appeared to be the host, and asked if I could give testimony as a business owner that depends on the medical marijuana dispensary businesses. But I was told that the sponsor of the meeting had canceled the meeting indefinitely. I asked "does that mean that this meeting will never take palce?" Which is what it sounded like to me, but she was holding up the show by talking to me, so we parted ways and she began the meeting while I sat down.

I decided to take a moment to listen to a bit of the city council meeting. No one announced to the audience that this meeting about marijuana would not take place and everyone that assembled for the marijuana discussion stayed well into the first half of the meeting. We got to hear about some amazing employees of the city who had worked for the city for 10+ years, and they received awards. Then two women with their own announcement about homelessness came with their own message about homeless issues.

One announcement was about homeless memorial day. This is a national holiday that is mourned on December 21st. Which is amazing, and Im surprised that I hadn't heard of it. I was homeless in Washington for 2.5 years. Someone told me something about CHAZ, which is apparently a group of over 40 homeless organizations. And the other kind young woman, spoke about how around 40 homeless folks have came through her house. She also offered a video presentation of military folks, and she told how she knows many veterans that are homeless in Spokane, and how it hurts her to know our vets are treated this way.
Which is really quite inspiring. I had folks like her take me in when I was homeless. What a blessing to know that you are loved by even a stranger, in that situation. This is my story: http://mystory.behindzioncurtain.com
Thanks for all you women do!

Then came the time when the meeting about marijuana in Spokane was about to take place.

The speaker who was Joe Shogan, announced that the meeting about medical marijuana had been canceled by it's sponsor "indefinitely". He suggested that if anyone wanted to leave, instead of listening to a bunch of city business, that we depart at that time. Which over a dozen people who were gathered did leave, including myself. Although I was really impressed with the whole operation thus far and I wanted to observe more. I decided observations would have to wait, as would participation. So I dashed back to the mall which is directly across the street from and picked up my girls and got home quickly before the storm started dumping on us. Tried out my new meds from the Human Connection, and the Dr. Feel Good is excellent, and it reminds me of listening to Motely Crue when I was like 12. LOL!

The point of my 3 minute speech was basically going to explain the dynamics of how our business EmeraldPOS.com depends directly on the dispensaries to sustain our family. We have paid a developer to help us make some code for our POS solutions, and we have made a few sales already of only being in business for less than 3 weeks.

I listened to the council talk about how the city is down 1.4 million dollars compared to last year, and that they expect to see a deficiency.

I thought to myself, what a great way to illustrate a semi-new market (1996 isn't very new I suppose) which is almost completely untapped, and how it can be beneficial to all aspects of our community, including the technology folks like myself.

I don't even sell medical marijuana yet the medical marijuana industry is providing jobs for contractors and for small business owners as well as making purchases for high end computer equipment. In a tough economy to be in business, especially a new business, and we are thanking the Lord for cannabis! Cannabis fills gaps in our society that we have been missing for more than 3/4's of a century!

Blessings to you! Have a hempy holiday!

(which reminds me, please pray for Marc Emery and all of the cannabis POWs if you pray)

In RCMP style, the department decides to go on a political witch hunt for those that are trying to bring forth God's greatest green gift.

Rick Simpson has been a soldier of medicinal marijuana, and has claimed to have cured people's cancer with a regular regiment of edible cannabis.

Installing surveillance is not difficult to do, and I recommend that everyone who is at risk of being a political target, do set up security and surveillance. For surveillance, I recommend doing offsite recording. Meaning if the RCMP, DEA, or local narcotics thugs break down the door to your home, dispensary or even your vehicle, that you have a safe and secure backup of the video.
If you want advice on this, Emerald POS has 12 years of experience installing surveillance. Check them out at EmeraldPOS.com

Please get the word out about Rick Simpson. The police won't accept responsibility for illegally entering his home, and taking his possessions including his cameras!
