xCannabis gets a new studio

February 22nd, 2010 | By Reverend

No Gravatar

We are currently building out a new studio for xCannabis.
We have been doing broadcasts out of my home, but the internet signal is weak, and the distractions are many.
So with our new office space for Emerald Sun Inc, we are also installing a room dedicated to our xCannabis broadcasts.
This will make it easier to have guests, and to stream multiple feeds at once with our highly improved internet.

Right now we are looking for someone to give us a quote on framing a room in our commercial location.
We need a licensed Washington contractor, willing to give us a good deal.

Cannabis – Canna-business – and activism

February 5th, 2010 | By Reverend

I got reprimanded today by another stoner in a chat room.

I just created a new way to ’spread the herb’ which is via  http://SLU2.com

SLu2.com is similar to TinyURL.com, TR.IM, and Bit.Ly.

I put 2 or 3 links up at  http://stash.norml.org and asked people to help me test it.

This is the response I got:

@xcannabis, I guess I don’t see a reason for me to change to slu2.com. For one thing, tr.im lets me track hits on my links. Are you tracking hits with yours? And just what do you track? Sorry, but other than in here, I don’t know anything about you except that you’re trying to drum up business. Sortof everything you do is a little spammy. :idk:

I respond and say:

@ ******, my site SLU2.com does everything that TR.IM does. One thing that I do that TR.IM doesn’t is that I support NORML with $$. I also organize and attend pot rallies. Do whatever you want. But TR.IM does nothing for law reform.

The entire reason that I am starting these cannabis businesses, is not because I am needing more things to fill my already busy schedule up.  I’ve made enough money each year for the last 4 years that my wife has not had to work, and our bills still get paid and our life is still comfortable.   At one time my wife brought home the bacon.  But due to some good investments and a lot of hard work, I am able to take care of my family without needing a two income family anymore.

I didn’t NEED to start a few cannabis businesses, other than  wanting to be able to contribute more to the cause.

By starting these cannabis related businesses, I am able to donate more money to several of my favorite causes which are all cannabis related.

Last year we donated thousands of dollars between several orgs.
NORML, HempFest, Cannabis Culture and BongTV.

That money came right out of our pockets, and with no material benefit to us what-so-ever.

This year we have created several cannabis businesses and we are starting to advertise them.
We will do all of the same donations to the same orgs as we did last year, but this year we are also adding High Times, and possibly Treat Yourself Magazine.

I couldn’t give nearly as much money to these orgs, if I wasn’t getting something in return.  Meaning I advertise with these groups,  it fuels their agenda and it fuels mine.   This isn’t a take/take relationship, this is a give/take relationship.

Further more.  I am employing people, renting a business location, advertising with several businesses, and paying taxes in my cannabis related business and I am not even selling weed.
This is all complimentary to the cannabis movement.  It goes to show that cannabis business is good business, it’s good for our whole community and it shows why cannabis can be legal and legitimately fix our economy and restore freedom at the same time without causing mass crime, etc..

I am a business man.  So the best way that I can contribute to the cause is by business.  When I post a link at NORML, or Cannabis Culture, or BongTV, or any of the other sites that I go to, I pay for the advertising.  I don’t just take without giving back.

So the question is.  What do YOU do to help the cause?

Reverend Ryan updates

November 26th, 2009 | By Reverend

Alot has changed in the last week. We had planned on going to Idaho for Thanksgiving, but due to weather and other unrelated circumstances we had to stay in Washington. However I have a few updates. I am involved with creating a new business designed to help out Washington dispensaries with a time/date stamp for their reciepts, using freeware open source PHP/MySQL software for all point of sale applications. With the ability to use barcodes, scanners, and a touch screen. This is: www.EmeraldPOS.com (Emerald Point of Sales).    You can use a demo (as a sales clerk only) at:   http://emeraldpos.com/pos-software-demo/

Also, I have a hard time around this time of year.  I lost my best friend/youngest brother when he was 16 which was about 8 years ago.    Cherish your loved ones.  Life is short.  Too short.

Love you!  Happy Thanksgiving!

xCannabis got a spot at HempFest thanks to the xCann team we pulled together enough money to rent the spot, buy 10,000 full color UV coated flyers and we will have luxury accommodations sleeping in the back of my Dodge Durrango  (2 adults 2 kids).

Kimi my wife is making some patchwork clothing and accessories from scratch.  We have some awesome fabric and some great designs.

(see samples here)

We may have a raffle too.   We have had some prizes from other contests that were never won just laying around, so we may have a raffle on some grow equipment and a skateboard.   If we do this, we will send the prizes to whoever wins via UPS after we announce the winners on August 20th.  This raffle will help xCannabis with advertising for the months to come.

Be sure to check us out.  Below are the maps to where we will be.
I owe the graphical map to HempFest, and the Satellite map to Google.  Thanks!

Mormons are responsible for the first marijuana prohibition?

June 17th, 2009 | By Reverend

This is a long and complicated history, but it appears that Utah is responsible for the first prohibition against marijuana in the USA!

I guess it figures, since they prohibit just about everything else.  Coffee (or “hot drink” as it is written), alcohol, tobacco (even though they used to have spittoons in their temples), and a hand full of other common substances.

Read this history, this was the first that I’ve ever read about it.  Marijuana prohibition in the USA started with Mormons in Utah in the year of 1915.

BTW-  When I say Mormon’s, I really mean the Utah State legislature in that year.  Which was entirely made up of Mormon’s.

I took this Sunday to introduce the ministry in it’s official format for the first time, by proclaiming why I have faith in Christ and why the sons and daughters of Abraham have a deep connection to cannabis.

This sermon are titled “the healing of the nations”!

Why fight for legalization? Why be so vocal about your politics?

I am appauled how people can be so apathetic in our current crises.  How can people just sit around and watch our nation fall to pieces?

I can not sit around and not say anything!

A spring of protesting in the Zion Curtain

May 11th, 2009 | By Reverend

Last month marked a new showing of support for marijuana legalization in South East Idaho.

There have clearly been a lot of support throughout the rest of Idaho for Marijuana legalization.  Including Hailey Idaho which have twice passed a series of initiative that we passed by the voters of the city, and despite that these initiatives were overturned, one thing is clear and that is that Idaho, like four of our neighbors (who have already legalized medical marijuana) is ready for legalization.   Right now these four neighbors have at least legalized medical marijuana; Washington, Oregon, Nevada and Montana all have legal medical marijuana laws.  Oregon and Washington have gone a few steps further by decriminalizing simple possession in many areas of their state.

I am calling for marijuana reform in Idaho, and I am putting everything I have behind this movement.  If you would like to join up with xCannabis in Idaho and form a NORML chapter, we can start getting even more work done.

Visit  www.NORML.org to join NORML.  If you would like to broadcast your pro-liberation (of marijuana) message on xCannabis, then join the conversation!   You can now upload your own videos directly through xCannabis.  Just write a post, and at the bottom of the posting page, there is an option to upload a video.
You can upload a new conversation topic or opinion, or you can upload a response to someone else’s video.

Interactive Video button

< use this button when writing or editing a post to leave a video comment.  You can use your webcam, or you can upload a new video, or even select a youtube video to respond with.

Let get this conversation fired up!

When you can’t get heard

May 9th, 2009 | By Reverend

I have went through a dry spell in the beginning of my campaign to legalize marijuana for responsible adult usage.

No matter how many magazines, newspapers, and television stations that I write, I have had little media for my protesting in Idaho and Utah.

I know that there are many people who want to stand up, and speak out but out of fear of losing their job or more, they don’t.
And for those who do, big round of bong hits to you!

So with all of the many attempts to get the conversation going in South East Idaho, only the Idaho State Journal, and the blog Idaho Falls Today have covered any of this.   Channel 8 news apparently covered a different protest in Idaho Falls on 4/20, but I had to cover my own.

So I have been looking for a way to get a cable access talk show about pot.  Tonight Russ Belville (aka Radical Russ) from the NORML Daily Audio stash sent out a message that he was on a webcast.  So I checked it out, it was a wonderful forum of conversation  on the topic of marijuana.  It’s amazing to see what is happening in Oregon and around the nation!

Here is that show.  http://stash.norml.org/see-me-live-right-now-on-cannabis-common-sense/

This show is broadcast on the internet via  www.ustream.com

If anyone ever wanted to do a public access type of show, check this media medium out, it’s free!

We will be using this on xCannabis, look for our streaming videos and radio.

News from xCannabis for May 09

May 6th, 2009 | By Reverend

No Gravatar Join the forum discussion on this post - (1) Posts

xCannabis has been changing and growing in many ways this last week! I finally got my second wind after the new baby and the move!

Marijuana money

Legal Marijuana money

We have implemented a few features that will allow us to grow more, and will allow our contributors to see a part of the pie.

I have been talking about this for a long time, but I have finally put something together that will allow us to do some profit sharing.  That, after all,  is our ultimate goal, to protect pot smokers from stupid urine tests, and discrimination in the work place.  We would like to give creative stoners a place to make money, and stay stoned.

xCannabis has spots at the bottom of each post and each page that will allow a sponsor to contribute to the author of the said blog article.   See this for more information:   Sponsor xCannabis

We have several authors, and we want them to be rewarded too, so for every sponsorship that their post gets, we will send that author 50% of the sponsorship amount.

This way xCannabis can be fair to everyone who works hard to help this movement keep growing strong!

Anyone who is an author of this site qualifies (contact me if you wish to become an author, please provide references).    Each article submitted must be reviewed by the editors before we post it. Please make original materials, and on relevant topics.

Sponsorship starts at $5, and can be any amount upwards. If your post gets a $50 sponsorship, xCannabis will send you a check or a paypal transfer for $25.

Send me an email if you’re interested, and I will get you an agreement for this. So that we can claim these payments on our taxes, and vise versa.

We also have a few openings for some pot podcast people. Anyone who is interested in “potcasting” please let us know. We would like to present a few different channels on our potcast. Profit sharing will be similar to article publishing. We have a nifty toolbar that will help us in this venture now, too.

Check out the toolbar @ http://toolbar.xcannabis.com

xCannabis toolbar and podcast player

xCannabis toolbar and podcast player

That toolbar is new to xCannabis, but I have been testing it for a few months and it is solid.  I’ve looked for information on the company that makes these toolbars possible, and they have a good reputation.   “Conduit”  is the name of the company if you have any concerns.  http://www.conduit.com

Make money talking about marijuana

Make money talking about marijuana

With this toolbar we will be streaming podcasts, and RSS feeds from xCannabis and NORML.  Download it and tell us what you think.  Apparently if enough people use it, it will make us money when people use the google search engine that is built into the toolbar.   More money coming in, means that we can advertise in more places, and travel to upcoming protests, etc.  We are also hoping to have a booth at Seattle HempFest this August.

So help us out by downloading and using the toolbar!  It really makes listening to your favorite tunes easier while browsing, including the NORML Daily Audio Stash!
