OpenBravo POS is what we are recommending to all of our friends and clients.
We hightly recommend this software and it has a great user friendly feel.
This software's most important quality in my opinion is that it is OPEN SOURCE.
Always ask your software provider if the software is open source or closed source.
Open Source means that you can hire any developer to work on it. Closed Source means that only that particular software provider can work on it.
Other good things about OpenBravo is that you can set it up for a resturant environment with seating arrangements etc. There are inventory functions, backend accounting fucntions, and a great touch screen interface.
We have help you connect to a remotely hosted database. Or you can host the database locally.
Hosting your database remotely means that you don't have to worry about someone breaking in to your business and stealing your data.

OpenBravo POS is free, and that is the one that you will want. ERP is more for backend functions, and it costs a monthly fee.
